The origins of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show trace back to 1862 with the Royal Horticultural Society’s Great Spring Show in Kensington. After several relocations, the show found its permanent home in Chelsea in 1913, where it has flourished ever since, barring interruptions during the World Wars.

🌸 Highlights of this year’s Chelsea Flower Show
Best in Show: The Cha no Niwa – Japanese Tea Garden
Designed by Kazuyuki Ishihara, this garden drew inspiration from the art of ikebana, emphasizing harmony and communication. Featuring varying elevations, traditional Japanese plants, and serene stone arrangements, it captivated judges and visitors alike.
Monty Don’s Dog-Friendly Garden
Celebrated gardener Monty Don introduced a unique space tailored for canine companions. Incorporating pet-safe plants, shaded areas, and interactive features, the garden highlighted the bond between humans and their dogs. Post-show, it is set to be relocated to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.
The British Rainforest Garden
Zoe Claymore’s design spotlighted the often-overlooked Atlantic temperate rainforests of the UK. Through lush plantings and immersive pathways, the garden emphasized the importance of preserving these rare ecosystems.
Floral Marquee: A Tribute to South Africa
The marquee dazzled with vibrant displays of South African flora. Cape Flora of South Africa showcased proteas and Cape primroses, while nurseries like Gardeners Delight highlighted agapanthus and clivias. Elsa Pooley’s new book on indigenous South African garden plants was also featured.
Royal Dedications
A new rose variety, “Catherine’s Rose,” was unveiled in honor of the Princess of Wales, with proceeds supporting cancer care initiatives. Additionally, “The King’s Rose,” characterized by its fuchsia-and-white stripes, paid tribute to King Charles III.
